Is Tuya going to spend the winter in India!? (Thursday November 25, 2004)

It seemed that Tuya would end where Chingiz is staying. He has not changed his position significantly since the end of October. Tuya, however, has not stopped since Monday and has flown other 220 km southwestward through Myanmar (Burma) up to the mountains dividing eastern part of India from Myanmar. She stopped right behind its tops over 2000 m high. Only accurate localization of her coordinates in the map proved that the place is about 7 km from the Indian boundary, or - to be more precise - the union state called Mizoram. The whole area is interlaced with the net of mountain rivers and streams. It's no surprise that there's a lot of water in this area - to be sure, Bangladesh and the surrounding parts of India have the highest rainfall sum in the world! This area belongs to the richest ones even as far as ornithology is concerned. It looks like there are very different conditions here than those in the central India that Altynai chose as her winter-grounds. Altynai has been staying near Lakhundar lake for a month, at the same savana - like places where we monitored her last year.
