Chingiz is coming back, even the pupils and students of American schools are watching his journey (Wednesday, March 23, 2005)
Up till yesterday, it was true that the three monitored black storks involved in New Odyssey project were staying at their wintering grounds - female Altynai marked near Ob river in Indian Madhya Pradesh, male Chingiz who nested in central Mongolia in Burmese Kachin, and female Tuya who got the transmitter in central Mongolia as well, at the border between Burma and Indian Mizoram. However, Chingiz set off on his return journey yesterday and flew 130 kilometres.
Even the pupils and students of American schools are watching the journey of the "backpacked" storks within the Signals of Spring project managed by NASA. It is a great compliment for us that we were challenged for cooperation by the organisation that had put a man on the Moon. :-)
