Chingiz is in China (Wednesday September 29, 2004)
Duly, Chingiz continued further in south-south-eastward direction that he set on Sunday September 26 on his way to the wintering grounds. He flew almost 200 km on Monday and also yesterday moved 75 km. He reached Chinese boundary on September 27.
At last, the first of Mongolian storks with transmitters set forth. He is flying quite quickly and follows quite straight trace directing south-south-eastward. This fast and straight advance responds to the idea that the adult male Chingiz is not obviously flying along this trace the first time and probably passed it a few times in the recent years - however, without our "backpack". His transmitter was heard in China this night about 100 km from the southern border with Mongolia. It was in China's northern province that you can find in a map under the title Inner Mongolia coincidentally.
The female Tuya stayed still near her nesting place by Tuul river yesterday. Nothing to do but wait till new locations arrive from the Argos system that will describe the paths of Mongolian storks to the south.
There is nothing new in the river-basin of Syrdaria, the female Altynai is staying on the places known from past years, where Siberian storks spent their long stops.
