Up the rivers (Thursday, 23th October 2003)
Iristu, who started upstream the Amudaria river and eastward on Tuesday, flied on even during yesterday. Obviously, he was not in a hurry - he reached a little more than 200 kilometres in two days. He was staying near the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan border last night and should soon turn south.
Altynai, after a long stop, set off on her way up the Syrdaria river on Tuesday or Wednesday as well. She moved 150 kilometres. Looking at the map, I would guess that even she is going to turn south these days. But remember last year - the storks surprised us many times, so who knows whether Altynai wouldn't fly to the mountains...
