Iristu south of Buchara (Thursday 16 October 2003)

Iristu crossed some 330 kilometres yesterday and stopped at the border between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, around 100 kilometres south of the famous town of Buchara. We can expect that he will spend a day or two or maybe a whole week at a lake near river Amudarya where he stopped yesterday night. But who knows, he may set off for Hindukush, across Turkmenistan, today... Daytime temperatures at Amudarya reach between 25 and 28 degrees Ceslius, and 5 to 14 degrees at night. The weather at Syrdarya, where Altynaj has been staying, is somewhat colder: afternoon highs from 21 to 26 degrees Celsius, nighttime lows from 4 to 10.
