Hornbill House (Wednesday 3rd, December 2003)

4. prosinec 2003

We arrived to Bombay tonight and spent most of the day in Bombay Natural History Society's residence at the Hornbill House. This famous non-profit organization celebrated its 120th anniversary recently and many celebrities of zoology and ornithology, for example George Schaller, participated there. BNHS takes part both in research (it is the biggest Indian bird-ringing centre) and nature conservation and now it is cooperating on New Odyssey project here in India. Thanks to the director Asad Rahmani we have their logistical support a car and a new member of our team - a zoologist Maheshwaran Gopinathan, in short Mahesh.

We are going to spend our next one or two days in Bombay. After that, we will be leaving for Altynai to Madhyapradesh, to a place about 100 kilometers west from Bhopal.
